Gather round, for a very special welcome
For the inaugural Gather Round in Adelaide, one of the AFL’s key objectives was to set it apart from a typical game day experience for both local and interstate fans. This included elevating and creating inclusive in-match fan experiences whilst using digital technology for engagement.
As part of a broad delivery scope, KOJO collaborated with the AFL, Channel 7, local elder Jack Buckskin and Indigenous agency, We Create Print Deliver, to deliver an unexpected live and real-time mixed reality ‘Welcome to Country’ experience. The moment brought to life the story of the Kaurna people and featured on the national broadcast and in-stadia using innovative technology and software to make it possible.
This experience reached 5 million viewers on Channel 7’s Thursday night football coverage, got 117,000+ views on AFL’s Facebook page and had 67,000+ views on Twitter within the first 24 hours of posting.
